Dropbox – one of the most popular cloud-based storage services has just released a major update for their iOS app.
Dropbox 1.5 includes a number of new features such as automatic uploads, a new gallery view etc and also a new way to earn bonus storage.
Dropbox iOS app automatically uploads photos and videos from your iOS device’s camera roll. The photos are uploaded to a common “Camera Uploads” folder in your Dropbox account.
The updated app offers a better user interface to view photos and videos, which Dropbox is calling the “Gallery view”.
Dropbox has also removed the size limit from the latest version of their iOS app, so users will be able to upload file of any size with the iOS app. You can also move and delete multiple files.
Dropbox is also offering users who use the automatic upload feature additional 3GB of storage space (in 500 MB increments), which is nice incentive for users to use the feature (free Dropbox accounts start at 2GB of space). With the automatic upload feature and additional 3 GB storage (takes the free storage to 5GB) Dropbox seems to take on Apple’s Photo stream feature with the latest update.
You can download the latest update via the Updates tab in the App Store app or download it using this App Store link.
Warning: While we didn’t face any issue, it looks like quite a few users are facing issues with the latest update based on the review comments for the current version in the App Store.
