Google has just released a completely revamped version of their Google Search app for the iPhone, bringing it in line with the iPad app.

The new version (2.0.0) comes with an all-new interface, full-screen image search and more importantly gives faster results.

When you launch the Google Search, you’re now presented with a simple search box with links to Apps, Voice (to search by voice) and Google Googles.

As soon as you start typing, you get search suggestions almost instantly. It seems to display the search results a lot faster. You can now switch between search modes using the swipeable menu at the bottom.

Google has also made it easy to swipe back and forth between webpages and your search results with a slide-in panel. The webpages also seems to load a lot faster. We’re not sure how Google has managed to achieve this as loading URL in other apps and even the older version of Google Search was quite slow.

You can also search for text within a webpage by tapping on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom menu on any page.

Google has also revamped the image search feature. Noah Levin, Interaction Designer of the Google Search app explains on the Official Google blog:

Tap the images button at the bottom of the search results page, and watch high-resolution images load into a beautiful grid. Browse the images by scrolling down the full-screen grid, or tap on a single image to get details about it and then quickly swipe from image to image. You can also tap and hold an image to save it to your camera roll to use as your wallpaper or share with a friend.

Google has also added the ability to save images to the camera roll (v2.0.0 brings this feature to the iPad app).

We love the revamped user interface, it’s a lot more intuitive and the implementation of the slide-in panel to swap back and forth between webpages and the search results is quite clever. Searching and loading of the webpages is also a lot faster with the updated version, which further enhances the search experience.

You can update Google Search via the Updates tab in the App Store app or download it from the App Store using this iTunes link.

Google seems to be finally getting serious about iOS. Few weeks back it released a gorgeous new app for Google+. We hope that it keeps the momentum going and also releases a revamped version of the Gmail app and finally releases its free Navigation app for the iPhone. And based on the performance improvements, we cannot rule out the possibility of Google releasing Chrome browser for iOS.
