Product Hunt has quickly made a name for itself in the tech community as a product discovery service for finding the best new mobile apps, websites, hardware projects, tech creations and other products. Now, an official iPhone app for Product Hunt is now available.
iPhone users can now find the best new products on the go, keeping up with the latest trends and submitting and voting for their favorite products. Additionally, there are discussions to follow, Q&A sessions with founders, commenting and upvoting, profiles and more.
Product Hunt, described as a “Hacker News for products” or “Reddit for products,” recently graduated from the Y Combinator accelerated startup program and received $1 million in funding shortly thereafter.
“Reddit is probably the closest model today that we’re taking cues from,” Hoover told me. “When you post a link in the Bitcoin sub-Reddit with all the Bitcoin nerds, they know what they’re talking about.” These Reddit sub-categories are exactly what he wants Product Hunt’s new communities to be like — topical and filled with “experts” and quality discussions and submissions.
A shortlist of apps, websites, tech creations and other products currently listed on Product Hunt include Swing Copters, the new game from Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen, Serendipity by Spotify, Mailbox for Mac, SchoolGuard, UglyNotes, the new Uber API and more.
Product Hunt is free on the App Store for iPhone.
